Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2008, Volume 2, Issue 2,   Pages 139-144 doi: 10.1007/s11709-008-0028-4

Abstract: The dynamic characteristics of bridge structures are the basis of structural dynamic response and seismic analysis, and are also an important target of health condition monitoring. In this paper, a three-dimensional finite-element model is first established for a highway bridge over a railroad on No.312 National Highway. Based on design drawings, the dynamic characteristics of the bridge are studied using finite element analysis and ambient vibration measurements. Thus, a set of data is selected based on sensitivity analysis and optimization theory; the finite element model of the bridge is updated. The numerical and experimental results show that the updated method is more simple and effective, the updated finite element model can reflect the dynamic characteristics of the bridge better, and it can be used to predict the dynamic response under complex external forces. It is also helpful for further damage identification and health condition monitoring.

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2019, Volume 13, Issue 4,   Pages 965-980 doi: 10.1007/s11709-019-0530-x

Abstract: In the present contribution, operational modal analysis in conjunction with bees optimization algorithm are utilized to update the finite element model of a solar power plant structure. The physical parameters which required to be updated are uncertain parameters including geometry, material properties and boundary conditions of the aforementioned structure. To determine these uncertain parameters, local and global sensitivity analyses are performed to increase the solution accuracy. An objective function is determined using the sum of the squared errors between the natural frequencies calculated by finite element method and operational modal analysis, which is optimized using bees optimization algorithm. The natural frequencies of the solar power plant structure are estimated by multi-setup stochastic subspace identification method which is considered as a strong and efficient method in operational modal analysis. The proposed algorithm is efficiently implemented on the solar power plant structure located in Shahid Chamran university of Ahvaz, Iran, to update parameters of its finite element model. Moreover, computed natural frequencies by numerical method are compared with those of the operational modal analysis. The results indicate that, bees optimization algorithm leads accurate results with fast convergence.

Deep reinforcement learning-based critical element identification and demolition planning of frame structures

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2022, Volume 16, Issue 11,   Pages 1397-1414 doi: 10.1007/s11709-022-0860-y

Abstract: This paper proposes a framework for critical element identification and demolition planning of frame structures. Innovative quantitative indices considering the severity of the ultimate collapse scenario are proposed using reinforcement learning and graph embedding. The action is defined as removing an element, and the state is described by integrating the joint and element features into a comprehensive feature vector for each element. By establishing the policy network, the agent outputs the Q value for each action after observing the state. Through numerical examples, it is confirmed that the trained agent can provide an accurate estimation of the Q values, and handle problems with different action spaces owing to utilization of graph embedding. Besides, different behaviors can be learned by varying hyperparameters in the reward function. By comparing the proposed method and the conventional sensitivity index-based methods, it is demonstrated that the computational cost is considerably reduced because the reinforcement learning model is trained offline. Besides, it is proved that the Q values produced by the reinforcement learning agent can make up for the deficiencies of existing indices, and can be directly used as the quantitative index for the decision-making for determining the most expected collapse scenario, i.e., the sequence of element removals.

Strategic Updating of Internet Plus Considering Digital Transformation

He Wei,Zhang Weidong,Wang Chaoxian

Strategic Study of CAE 2020, Volume 22, Issue 4,   Pages 10-17 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2020.04.002

Abstract:

Since the Internet Plus initiative was proposed five years ago, innovations associated with the new-generation information technology have accelerated and digital transformation of the economy and society has exhibited many new features. These necessitate the construction of a new system and exploration of new paths for the transformation, and measures currently taken under the Internet Plus initiative need to be evolved and upgraded. This study follows the objective laws of technological industry transformation and is based on the theoretical paradigm of technology economics. It analyzes the new trend and research frontiers of digital transformation at the technology, application, and policy levels. The study reveals that the current technology system and technological capabilities of digital transformation have gradually improved, a new blueprint for the transformation has emerged, and the integration of information technology with the real economy has entered a new stage. However, the digital transformation framework system needs to be reconstructed, the key elements of transformation needs to be strengthened, and key breakthroughs need to be achieved. To this end, in the follow-up policy design of the Internet Plus initiative and during the formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan, China should focus on exploring the potentials of digital elements, promote the construction of the digital transformation ecology, establish transformation and innovation networks, and upgrade the policy support system for the Internet Plus initiative, thereby promoting the digital transformation of economy and society to a higher level.
